Chris McCloud

Senior designer, Chris McCloud, is a graduate of the New York School of Interior Design whose work has been seen in publications such as Philadelphia Magazine - Home, Philadelphia Style Magazine, Lucky Magazine, and on NBC, CBS, and FOX news. He brings over 14 years of experience in the residential field.

Chris began his career in construction and home remodeling in 1993, when he started working as a laborer for large home builders like K. Hovnanian and Centex Homes. Chris quickly worked his way up through several field positions that gave him hands-on education on the building process from concept to completion. He also had the opportunity to supervise new home inspections, and ensure homeowner satisfaction, learning first hand any problems that could arise from poor execution. Chris gained confidence in understanding exactly how to look at a finished product through the eyes of a homeowner which served as the perfect foundation as he moved into the next phase of his career in interior design.

Chris relocated to New York City where he started working as a design associate for a luxury design showroom. Recognizing his passion for interiors, Chris decided to go back to school for Interior Design. While in school, at the New York School of Interior Design, he realized that his construction experience gave him an important edge in the industry that allowed him to produce creative design concepts that could be seamlessly executed. Over the years, Chris had seen so many impressive designs that could not be built properly; he became committed to becoming a designer who could expertly combine form and function.

Chris then moved on to work for some of the best boutique design firms and kitchen and bathroom design showrooms in New York City and Philadelphia, giving him the interior design experience he needed to begin taking on his own clients and executing full design projects. His unique blend of experience in both interior design and construction, and his special knowledge of construction and design materials, offers a designer who knows how to oversee all aspects of a project.

Chris launched DESIGN 6 in 2007 when he moved back to the Philadelphia area, and is proud of his unique design aesthetic and project management skills. He incorporates nature, eco-friendly, and socially responsible elements into his work, and is currently working towards his LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification so he can consult with clients on steps they can take toward a greener lifestyle. Chris McCloud is an allied member of ASID and IIDA, and is eager to become a member of the Philadelphia area design community.
